The Boxlok Specifications

Installation Method & Compatibility

The Boxlok is designed for fast, straightforward installation without altering the valve.
• Installs in two pieces
• Snaps around the exposed valve stem
• Positioned below the operating nut and above the seal plate or bonnet
• Does not require removal or reinstallation of the operating nut
• Does not interfere with valve operation
• Each unit is furnished with specific installation instructions
This installation method allows Boxlok to remain loosely assembled to the valve stem, ensuring proper alignment without creating load transfer.

The Boxlok is Compatible With:
• Conventional 5 ¼” Cast Iron Valve Boxes with an 8” ID Base
• 6” PVC (SDR35) Used as a Riser
• 8” PVC (C900) Used as a Riser
• Most common buried valve types and manufacturers using standard operating nuts

Critical Requirement
Made in USA

Non-Load-Bearing Design

The Boxlok is an alignment device only and is not load-bearing.
• Boxlok does not create a load-bearing environment
• It prevents surface loads from being transferred through the valve box or access conduit to the buried valve or main
• Any valve box aligner that facilitates load transfer through direct contact with valve appurtenances is not acceptable

This non-load-bearing design allows Boxlok to maintain alignment while protecting the valve and main from surface impact forces.

Material & Manufacturing

• The Boxlok is manufactured under the following guidelines:

– Constructed of high-density polyethylene (HDPE)
– Non-metallic — contains no metal or ferrous components
– White in color for visibility during installation
– Meets all BABA manufacturing requirements

• The Boxlok is manufactured by Pioneer Plastics, an ISO9001:2015 Facility

• EMMA SALES LLC has worked closely with Pioneer Plastics for over 15 years

Suggested Specification

• All direct-buried valves requiring surface access via conventional cast-iron (8” I.D. base) and/or six (6”) pipe shall be furnished with a “valve-box-alignment-device” (VBAD).
• Buried valves larger than 12” requiring surface access via conventional cast-iron or six (6”) pipe must utilize a VBAD – call EMMA SALES for specific sizing or visit boxlok.com/size-the-boxlok/
• The VBAD shall be colored white and of HDPE manufacture/construction.
• VBAD containing metal/ferrous components shall not be accepted.
• VBAD shall be furnished in multiple pieces and assembled loosely to the exposed valve/gear stem, below the operating nut and above seal-plate/gear-box.
• VBAD assembly to valve shall not require operating nut to be removed and reaffixed.
• Single piece VBAD will not be accepted.
• VBAD shall be and remain “non-load-bearing” upon assembly.
• Load-bearing by means of VBAD having direct contact with the buried valve appurtenance facilitating the transfer of surface forces through valve box/valve access conduit directly to the water or sewer main will not be permitted.
• Each VBAD shall be furnished with specific installation instruction.
• VBAD shall be the Boxlok as manufactured by EMMA Sales, LLC. or approved equal.
